Missy and Katie with the Monteagle "Eagle" at the Smokehouse Lodge where we did our homestudy

Today, we went to Monteagle to meet our social worker for our homestudy completion.  The purpose of our meeting today was to make sure we had completed all of our paperwork.  The only thing we are still lacking is a medical clearance for Katie.  We thought we had everything taken care of, but this is just a small snag.  Our social worker is going to help us get the forms filled out and then we will be officially done with our portion of the homestudy.  We will wait to have all the approval and then our social worker will get it translated into Haitian Creole for us.

We also had some really GREAT news today.  We found out the orphanage we are working with is a Christian organization and the person in charge of the orphanage is a believer.  We are so very excited to see what is happening with this.  Our “tifi” is there and just doesn’t know we are coming to be a part of her life yet.  How exciting to know God is in all of this and to hear from so many of our friends who are praying for us and giving us advice.  We never knew how many of our friends and acquaintances have been through the adoption process.

PLEASE keep praying for us and this journey.

The good news is our homestudy has been rescheduled.  We will be meeting our social worker tomorrow to finalize the details about our homestudy.  This is a GIANT hurdle we have been trying to overcome.  Once our homestudy is done, we have one less step in the process and more importantly we can apply for grants.  We are so excited that our “tifi” is getting closer to being here.  This is getting more and more real to us daily!
We realize daily we have a little girl just a few hours away from us via American Airlines that will one day be in our home!  How will her world be changed coming from a place where the largest market is on the side of a water and mud filled street?  Our prayer is that we are nothing but faithful and true to God’s call on us and teach her to be as well.  She’s coming soon…

Last Friday, we were supposed to meet with our social worker for our final homestudy.  She was coming up from Chattanooga and we were weathering the storms that came through…especially the ones that were so devastating to Murfreesboro just down the road.  We were able to call and warn her of the trouble, and she turned around and went home.  We are still waiting to see what will happen now and when we can reschedule.  We would appreciate your prayers as we continue down this road.  THANKS!  We will definitely keep you posted.

Also, be looking for a future post that will update you on the stuff that goes on behind the scenes for an adoption.  Many of you will already know this but we had no clue.  We have been cleared, checked, and found acceptable so far.  It hasn’t been easy or convenient but it has been more than exciting!
